Everyone who dives within the national park at Thingvellir does so at their own risk. The national park is not in any way responsible for accidents due to diving in the area, whether it is a professional or sport diver, diving or surface diving.
The diver is responsible for having the required rights for diving, in addition to which he is responsible for having all the necessary equipment in place and that it is in good condition and meets the requirements of Icelandic law, regulations and rules set according to them.
A diver guarantees that he is in good enough mental and physical condition to dive and that he has sufficient experience and ability to do so. A diver independently assesses the situation each time and makes the decision to dive on his own. He must have studied where diving is permitted at any given time, how deep and other restrictions that may apply.
With his consent, the diver confirms that he has read the instructions of the Icelandic Maritime Administration regarding diving and surface diving in the national park at Þingvellir. He also confirms that he has assessed the risk associated with diving within the national park at Þingvellir, that he is aware of the risk and knows that he is at his own risk.
It is not permitted to dive and surface dive alone in Silfra.
