Pickpocketing at Þingvellir - Alert

In just over a month, the National Park has received information about five pickpocketings by our Visitor centre at Hakið and other crowded places in Almannagjá.
There were three incidents in February and two further this weekend and this morning. Some of the incidents have been reported to the police.
Þingvellir National Park is trying it's best to assist the police, in addition, temporary signs will be put up to remind visitors to take care of their bags and belongings.
The National Park asks tourist operators to alert their guests of this threat. Pickpocketing is a known problem in busy tourist destinations around the world.
