Þingvellir has for centuries been the focal point of Icelandic culture since the establishment of the parliament, Alþingi, in 930. In recent decades though, research has shown that the area posesses many more things of wonder, including the mid atlantic ridge, the Þingvellir brown trout, viking age habitats and many more things.
